Hereditary Melanoma Treated With Immunotherapy

According to UPI, scientists have discovered that Individuals with an inherited form of melanoma respond well to immunotherapy. Researchers from Karolinska Institute in Sweden studied patients with melanoma who carry specific genetic mutations and have a poor prognosis. In the study, 58 percent of patients with the mutation responded to the treatment with shrinking tumors. In six of the patients, the tumors disappeared completely.
