Breast Cancer Drug Might Work Against Form of Leukemia

According to UPI, a new drug that is being used to treat advanced breast cancer might also work effectively to treat acute myeloid leukemia, according to a study conducted with mice and cells.Researchers at Newcastle University in London have identified a way to target the form of leukemia without the significant side effects produced by current chemotherapy. The leader of the study, Dr. Olaf Heidenreich says, "Our discovery that this treatment can be effective in AML is an important step towards a more effective and less toxic treatment for patients with this form of leukaemia."
